MS Knowledgebase ID -> URL converter
Intro
- Use this utility to convert MS KB ID's such as Q123456 to a working URL. I have never gotten this to work by using the MS Support search for KB ID feature, unless I've known exactly what product the KB ID belonged to.
- MS were contacted on this issue, but their responses were disappointing. MS did not acknowledge it as a bug in their system and suggested I "might want to have a support specialist examine your browser to make sure it is working properly". Great. The conversation went like this: 1, 2, 3 and 4. After the last response I gave up.
- Stupid Microsoft is letting everybody play catch up with their latest user interface whims. As of 2001-15-12, the URL converter stopped working because of a site redesign carried out by Microsoft "based on our customers valuable feedback". They must have had a hard time listening because a) they broke all web links pointing to the knowledgebase, and b) Internet Explorer 4.0 (their own product, mind you) produces javascript errors on every page. Bleatch. The converter now conforms to the new way of linking to KB articles. Morons.
